2013 Drawing Annual

The 2013 Tiny Park Drawing Annual was a group exhibition focused on drawings and the concept of drawing, in the widest terms. The show included video work, drawings where the paper is destroyed during the drawing process, and three-dimensional cut paper drawings, as well as more traditional forms of drawing. The drawing annual featured artworks by Sara Frantz (San Antonio), Calixto Ramirez (Mexico), David Culpepper (Austin), Rob Verf (Buenos Aires/Austin), Sam Prekop (Chicago), and Claude van Lingen (Austin).

Sara Frantz is Senior Lecturer (Painting and Drawing) at The University of Texas at San Antonio. She received an MFA from The University of Texas at Austin. She has previously exhibited at David Shelton Gallery, Galleri Urbane, and D Berman Gallery.

Calixto Ramirez received a Bachelor of Visual & Plastic Arts from the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving E.N.P.E.G. La Esmeralda Mexico City. He recently exhibited at Galería Yautepec and Museo de la Ciudad de México. D.F.

David Culpepper is a member of the Austin-based artist collective, Ink Tank, which has recently exhibited at AMOA-Arthouse and Co-Lab Projects. He received his Bachelor Degree in painting and printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Rob Verf is Lecturer (Painting and Drawing) at UT Austin. He received his BFA from HKU-Utrecht    High    Education    for    the    Arts,    Utrecht,    Netherlands, and has exhibited in Argentina, the Netherlands, the United States, Russia, Finland, and Belgium.

Sam Prekop has exhibited extensively in the US, Europe, and Japan. Sam Prekop: Photographs (2007) was published by Presspop Publications (Japan). He is also well-known as the singer and main songwriter of the influential music group, The Sea and Cake.

Claude van Lingen studied at the University of Johannesburg, the Academie Notre Dames des Champs, Paris, and gained an MFA from Pratt Institute, New York. He has taught at the Johannesburg College of Art (South Africa) and the School of Visual Arts (New York), and is currently an adjunct professor at Austin Community College.
